Doesn’t the phrase “be greedy to get better” intrigue you? Being greedy, by definition, means having an intense selfish desire for something – usually associated with money. But in the context of this post, the focus of the “greed” has to do with personal and/or professional development.
The reason I’m using such a strong word as greed with regard to getting better is because standing still leads to obsolescence and irrelevance. Nothing stays the same. If you want to be successful, in any endeavor, you have to really want it – to the point that you’ll make whatever sacrifices you need to make to accomplish or achieve what you want. And, you’ll have to embrace change.
Here’s what being greedy to get better looks like:
If you don’t like something, change it. If you don’t like your job, quit. If you don’t have enough time, stop watching TV in the evening and stop checking your Facebook page every ten minutes during the day. Help someone else improve. Build relationships. Focus on your passion. Set goals – they’re the fuel for the furnace of achievement. Carve out time every day to work on a goal – make a goal appointment with yourself – thirty minutes will do – and keep that appointment.
Take charge of your life. Don’t settle for the status quo. Be greedy to get better!
