The late Jim Rohn had the best definitions of failure and success I’ve ever heard. Jim said” Failure is the result of a few errors in judgment – repeated every day – and success is the result of a few simple disciplines – practiced every day.”
Makes sense, doesn’t it? We fail to achieve what we say we want to achieve because we keep doing those things that sabotage our success achievement. We say we want to loose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle but…we repeatedly each junk food and figure out ways not to exercise. We say we want that promotion but we fail to get that certificate or degree we need to make it happen. Repeating self-defeating behavior will guarantee a disappointing life. If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, you’ll keep getting what you’ve been getting, right?
On the other hand, practicing a few simple disciplines – every day – will lead to a successful and productive life. Eating wisely and regular exercise is the path to good health. Working on “high value” tasks each day means you will accomplish those goals that move your life – and your career forward.
The key to success can be summed up in one word – discipline.
